Largely because the building has lived beyond its intended life, due to diligent maintenance by the City, it has a variety of current problems, including:
- Water drains into the building during heavy rains. The ground of Chardon Square slopes from east to west for proper drainage. Unfortunately, the log cabin was not built to withstand the drainage of heavy rains, and the water runs under the doors into the building.
- The running water supply is inadequate for the facilities. Flushing the toilet more than once, will lower the water pressure substantially.
- The "unisex" restroom provides limited privacy, since the entrance is within the large meeting room.
- The roof is aging and will require additional repair soon.
- Many residents say the outside fake log cabin siding looks cheap. The fake siding was used to limit construction costs.
