Model
On August 14, 2008, Hank Penttila presented the model of the proposed Heritage House to the Chardon Heritage Committee.  The model is a small scale replica of the proposed design.  It allows everyone the opportunity to see the building before it is actually built, and to experience how someone may use the building.  Trees are included in the model to help show how the building will fit within the park and surrounding trees.

The following image displays a view of the building from the northwest.  This is the primary view of the building from the most used portion of the park.  From this angle, you can see the concession porch and lobby entrance with timber framing, large meeting room entrance and windows, top of the chimney, and the cupola.  Multiple rooflines help to blend the building into the park.

The following image displays a view of the building from the north.  This view highlights the concession porch and lobby entrance with timber framing and elegant windows.  You also see the chimney coming through the roof.  This will another primary view of the building from the park.  The sidewalk at this main entrance is enlarged to support a higher level of pedestrian use.

This close up view of the concession stand and porch highlights a primary gathering place outside the building.  Notice the large timber framing supporting the porch.  During inclement weather, the porch will serve as a shelter to those outside the building.  Maple stirs will be sold from this concession stand during the maple syrup season, as well as inside the building.

A close up view of the large meeting room highlights the traditional double-hung windows and one of the meeting room entrances.  The height of the eaves is nine feet.  The view from inside the large meeting room looks northwest and southwest into the park.  From the park, you have a clear view inside the building (unless blinds are closed to darken the room during a meeting).  The large meeting room also has significant timberframe highlights.

The southern view of the building displays another porch and entrance into the maple syrup evaporator room and storage room.  Double-hung windows provide a clear view into the evaporator room.  The porch will serve as a holding area for fuel and maple sap, during maple syrup production.  It will also serve as a loading area for the storage room and for the removal of the evaporator (if necessary).

A close up view from the southeast direction highlights the timber framing on the southern porch, the cupola, and the chimney.  At the far right side of the photograph, you start to see the east retaining wall, which is designed to shelter the building from rain runoff.  This wall provides a raised landscaped location, helping to blend the building into the park.
